ETHICAL SOURCING
GLAMIRA is devoted to ethics and respects human rights, universal civil liberties, and fundamental freedoms beyond local customs. GLAMIRA is also committed to ensuring the integrity of our sources and upholding the highest social and environmental standards.
GLAMIRA obtains diamonds only from countries that fully participate in the Kimberley Process Certification Scheme (KPCS). It is an international cooperative monitoring system created to discuss the ways to eliminate the flow of “conflict diamonds” in the import and export of rough diamonds. The Kimberley Process compels its members to exercise strict controls to ensure that diamond purchases do not fund rebel activities.
About the Kimberley Process
The Kimberley Process began in May 2000 when Southern African diamond-producing states convened in Kimberley, South Africa, and has been in effect since 2003. It is open to all countries. As of 2013, it had 54 participants, representing 81 countries worldwide, from the European Union to the United States. It is a civil society initiative and implements the requirements of preventing the flow of diamonds sourced from conflict zones, as defined by the United Nations.
The Kimberley Process Certification Scheme (KPCS) guarantees that each rough diamond that crosses an international border between two signing countries are ”conflict-free”.
GLAMIRA certifies that all of its diamonds are bought based on written guarantees produced by its suppliers, which comply with the Kimberley Process.
